Milling and Resurfacing Projects

Township of Hamilton
Hamilton Avenue (CR 606)

Please be advised that on or about Tuesday, October 10, 2017, milling and resurfacing work will begin Hamilton Avenue (CR 606) from Cypress Lane to NJ Route 33.  It is anticipated that this work will take approximately fifteen (15) working days, weather permitting.  Construction will be completed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Mercer County proposes to complete the work as follows:

  • Mill Hamilton Avenue between NJ Route 33 and Klockner Road.  During this time, Hamilton Avenue would be closed to through traffic.  A detour would be posted directing motorists to use NJ Route 33 and Klockner Road.  However, access would be provided to local residents and businesses.
  • Mill Hamilton Avenue from Klockner Road to Cypress Lane.  During this time, Hamilton Avenue would be closed to through traffic.  A detour would be posted directing eastbound motorists to Cypress Lane, Whitehorse Avenue and Klockner Road.  Westbound motorists would be directed to Klockner Road, Nottingham Way, Greenwood Avenue and Ward Avenue.  Access to local residents and businesses would be permitted.
  • Once milling is completed on both sections of Hamilton Avenue, paving operations would commence and follow the same sequence and detours described above.

Township of Ewing/City of Trenton
Parkway Avenue (CR 634)

Please be advised that on or about Monday, September 25, 2017, milling and resurfacing work will begin on Parkway Avenue (CR) 634 from Hillcrest Avenue to Pennington Road.  It is anticipated that this work will take approximately fourteen (14) working days, weather permitting.  Construction will be completed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Mercer County proposes to complete the work as follows:

  • Mill Parkway Avenue from Pennington Road to Parkside Avenue.  During this time, Parkway Avenue would be fully closed to through traffic and motorists would be directed to use Pennington Road and Parkside Avenue.  Emergency access and limited access to local residents and businesses would be permitted.  Full, unrestricted access would be permitted during non-working hours.
  • Mill Parkway Avenue from Parkside Avenue to Hillcrest Avenue.  During this time, one direction of Parkside Avenue would remain open to traffic. The other direction detoured via Parkside Avenue, Pingree Avenue and Berwyn Avenue or Hillcrest Avenue, Homan Avenue and Parkside Avenue.  Full, unrestricted access would be permitted during non-working hours.
  • Paving operations would follow the same staging sequence as milling operations.

Emergency Bridge Closures

Township of Lawrence
Keefe Road Bridge (#543.15) over a Tributary of Shipetaukin Creek

On or about Monday, November 6, 2017, bridge repairs will commence the Keefe Road Bridge (#543.15) over a Tributary of Shipetaukin Creek which is located on Keefe Road between Cold Soil Road and Yeger Drive in Lawrence Township.  Repairs will consist of headwall repairs and installation of guiderail, necessitating a  24/7 closure of Keefe Road.  Construction will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will be completed using in-house personnel.  Mercer County anticipates construction will take approximately forty (40) calendar days to complete, weather permitting.

Detour

During construction, Keefe Road up to the bridge will be open to local residents but the bridge will be fully closed to through traffic.  A detour will be posted directing through motorists to use Lawrenceville-Pennington Road, Federal City Road, Blackwell Road and Cold Soil Road.

Township of West Windsor
Cranbury Road Bridge (#762.1) over Bear Brook

On or about Monday, August 21, 2017, complete bridge replacement  will begin on the Cranbury Road Bridge (#762.1) over Bear Brook, between Sunnydale Way and Stobbe Lane, in the Township of West Windsor.  The project duration will be approximately two-hundred and seventy (270) calendar days, weather permitting, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, Cranbury Road (CR615) at the construction site will be closed on a 24/7 basis to all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians, until completion of the project.

Detour

Motorists will be directed to use Clarksville Road and Princeton-Hightstown Road. However, local access to streets and driveways up to the construction site will be permitted. 

Townships of Lawrence/Hopewell
Blackwell Road Bridge (#5-233.1) over a Tributary of Stony Brook

On or about Friday, June 23, 2017, repairs will begin on the Blackwell Road Bridge (#5-233.1) over a Tributary of Stony Brook in the Townships of Lawrence and Hopewell.  Blackwell Road will be closed from Cold Soil Road to Federal City Road.  The project consists of complete bridge replacement, necessitating a full 24/7 closure of Blackwell Road. The project duration will be approximately ninety (90) calendar days, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Detour

Motorists are directed to use Federal City Road, Lawrenceville-Pennington Road, Keefe Road, and Cold Soil Road.  Local traffic will be permitted on Blackwell Road up to the point of closure.
